April 14th, 2013
Greers Ferry Lake
Anglers: Frank Leone/Terrance Narveson
23rd place - 5 bass - 8.67 pounds
April 13th : The first half of my practice day was a total dud. I fished the upper end and went up a
very muddy Middle Fork. Needless to say, I couldn't make em' bite in the Coco up there. From their
I headed down the lake to the clear smallie water. Connected on several and found a good group
of points where they were eating a C-rigged Big Bite Fighting Frog. Later in the afternoon I decided
to head back up the lake and try the bushes in the back of Higden Bay. I caught a couple of keeper
blacks, so I decided the I would make this location number 2 during the derby........
April 14th: When our number was called the Bass Cat/Mercury shot down the lake. I decided to try
a stretch in the narrows with a crankbait, but there was nothing doing. From there we hit the points
where I found the fish biting the day before. We proceeded to fish the points and had a limit in the
box by 8:30 AM. We were off to an ok start, and the ball kept rolling at our second stop, a couple of
points that Terrance always fishes here. By 1:00 PM we had caught 10 keepers and with the sun
coming out we decided to hit the bushes in Higden Bay. On almost his first flip, Terrance nails a
keeper Kentucky. Not what we were looking for, but we thought it might be a good sign.
Unfortunately, the bushes didn't pan out. We spent the remainder of our day fishing memories that
also did not pan out...............
Carolina-rigged Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog (3.5 and 4" Green Pumpkin) with Jewel Rock Weight: 11 keepers
Big Bite Cane Stick (watermelon red/green pumpkin laminate): 1 keeper
Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog: Lew's Tournament MG 6.4:1 reel, Dobyns Champion Extreme 744 C
16 pound Sunline Sniper Fluorocarbon
Big Bite Cane Stick: Lew's Tournament Pro reel, Dobyns Champion Extreme 704C, 16 pound Sunline Sniper
Another poor finish at a Super Team event. We really just never got the bites we needed and we
probably pulled the plug on the bush bite a little too quick. Hindsight is always 20/20.....................
See Ya' on the Flip Side,
