Lake Dardanelle

Anglers: Frank Leone - 2nd place - 5 bass - 16.23 pounds - $390.00 plus Big Bass - $120.00

Practice:
Took Friday off and hit the lake for a morning session. I stayed off my water for the most part.
Tried to get a river bite going, but to no avail. Caught a few but thought this might be a rough derby...

Tournament: I no sooner walked out the door to hook up the boat when lightning starts popping
everywhere. According to the hourly, it was supposed to be out by 6:00 AM, so it looked like a delayed
launch. Got to the ramp and the lightning was nasty. But then it really got wild... The tornado sirens went
off at 6:00 AM and a bunch of us scurried into the outhouse to hide, LOL.  The threat ended about 6:15,
but the lightning was still popping.... Finally, we got out at about 6:45 AM. I decided to stay close, and went
I got everyone taken off, I shot the Blazer up to my starting location. I got to a bank and started cranking.
No keepers on bank 1, but bank 2 was much more fruitful. My first fish was a 2-pounder, but then I caught
a 2.5 and a 5 on back to back casts! I was feeling it and had 5 in the well by 7:50 AM. I kept bouncing
around and was able to cull a couple small ones out by 10:30 AM. I found an isolated piece of wood in a
main river pocket and caught a 3-pounder on it during Friday's practice, so I decided to give it a try and
you guessed... I caught the same fish off it during the derby! It was a good cull, and I knew I was 1 good
bite away from making a run at a W... I kept plugging along, but never got the bite I needed. That's when it
got wild again. I had just made it back to the ramp when another storm brought some wicked winds... It was
one of those days it terms of weather!

6 Keepers: Spro Fat John SB crankbait (Denali Lithium 7' MH CB Rod;

Final Thoughts:
A wild day on Dardy... I feel like my bite is going away, but I am going to ride it until it
dies...

See ya' on the flip side....
