Tournament: Get5Bass Summer Series
July 21st, 2019
Anglers: Frank Leone - 14th place - 5 bass - 10.08 pounds
Practice: Hit the lake for a Friday morning session. Mostly hit stuff I didn't plan on fishing. Keyed me in to
a jig bite.
Tournament: When I got everyone taken off, I shot the Blazer to a spot I fished last Sunday during the
hurricane. Since I caught a bunch and a pretty good bag that day, the starting location was a no-brainer.
Got off to a good start and had 2 in the well in the first 10 minutes. I thought this stretch was going to fire,
but after 3 long hours, I still only had 4. Off I went to one of the banks I hit on Friday. I immediately caught
number 5, a small 12-inch Kentucky. Caught 2 more keepers off this stretch and was able to cull once. Still
not what I was looking for. From there, I hit a bank that I'd only been catching 1 good bass per trip off of.
This time, I was able to catch 4 keepers off it, including 2 culls. To conclude my day, I decided to hit
another bank I fished on Friday. That day, I caught 2 decent fish off of it, including a 2-pounder with one
"derpy" lip. Well, about half-way down the stretch, I caught Mr. Derp again... This time he went for a boat
10 Keepers: Leone's Swimhead Jig by Rope (Denali Lithium 7'4 MH; 16-pound Sunline Sniper FC)
2 Keepers: Spro Fat John SB crankbait (Denali Lithium 7' MH CB Rod; 16-pound Sunline Crank FC)
1 Keeper: Black Buzzbait (Denali Kovert 6'9 MH CB Rod; 30-pound Sunline Asegai Braid)
Final Thoughts: A poor finish, but a decent day of fishing. Caught a few, just never could get the big bite
or two I needed to get into contention...
See ya' on the flip side....
