Tournament: Get5Bass Solo Series
July 28th, 2019
Lake Dardanelle

Anglers: Frank Leone - 9th place - 5 bass - 9.75 pounds

Practice:
No practice for this one...

Tournament: With no practice, the number one question going into this derby was what effect would the
flow going from 150,000 cfs to 60,000 cfs have on the fish? Well, at my first stop I found out the effect was
negative. Caught 2 small keeper kentuckies on the first stretch and I knew I could be in trouble... Well, the
second stop was much better, as I caught 1 keeper black on a crankbait and 2 off of a small patch of water
willow on a swim jig. It felt good to have 5 in the well, but I knew I had to cull out three of them. With the
change in flow throwing the lower end fish for a loop, I decided to head up. Got to a current break up river
and quickly caught a 2-pounder... Felt like I was starting to cook with gas... but then it happened. I hooked
up with a good 3-pound plus fish and got her right next to the boat... She made a run and pulled off. Right
then I knew that fish was going to cost me... It was still early, so I tried to shake it off. Went on to lose 3
more decent fish and my goose was cooked...

Keeper count:

4 keepers: Spro Fat Papa 55 SB (Denali Lithium 7' M CB Rod;
14-pound Sunline Crank FC)
2 Keepers: Leone's Swimhead Jig by Rope (Denali Lithium 7'4 MH;
16-pound Sunline Sniper FC)
2 Keepers: Spro Fat John SB crankbait (Denali Lithium 7' MH CB Rod;

2 Keepers: White Swim Jig (Denali Kovert Lite 7'2 H; 50-pound Sunline FX2 Braid)

Final Thoughts:
The struggle was real today... I've fished really clean all year, but lost fish cost me a
check on this day. I think the next couple of derbies are going to be rough, so I will have to bear down and
concentrate...

See ya' on the flip side....
