Tournament: Get5Bass Solo Series
August 30th, 2020
Anglers: Frank Leone - 13th place - 4 bass - 7.91 pounds
Practice: No practice for this one...
Tournament: When prepping for this event, the big question was the weather. The weather folks were
calling for an all night thunderstorm lingering into the morning hours. I figured I might be trapped on the
lower end, so I rigged my rods accordingly. When I woke up, It was obvious the weather man was wrong, as
it had not rained all night. I checked out the futurecast radar and it looked clear to run up the river. I
decided to head up again. I no sooner made it out to the main river channel when I could see lightning
popping all over the place. I kept going and made it to my starting location just as the rain started. My first
spot was taken over by White Bass. At this point I was thinking I made the wrong decision to go up,
however, as soon as I got to my second stop I caught a 3-pound chunk. Things were looking up. Over the
next 3 hours, I caught 1 keeper per hour with the last one coming a little after 10:00 AM. From there on
out, I did not get another keeper bite.
4 keepers: Spro Fat Papa 55 SB (Denali Lithium 7' M CB Rod; 14-pound Sunline Crank FC)
Final Thoughts: Another tough day on Dardy. I still haven't figured out how to catch them in low flow or no
flow conditions this year. With the Summer Series and Solo Series Championships coming the next two
weeks, I am in desperate need of a change in conditions...
See ya' on the flip side....
